Aquatic Therapy

Water is an excellent place to exercise because it gives buoyancy and resistance.

Our aquatic therapy program allows patients to workout in warm water using its benefits to assist in the process of their recovery. Many musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and orthopedic diagnoses are treated effectively with aquatic therapy. Patients are set up on an individualized treatment program by a licensed Physical Therapist who will monitor the patient's progress closely. Some of the benefits of water therapy include:

  • Allows an injured area to be exercised much sooner.
  • Reduces inflammation & decreases pressure on the injured joint.
  • Little or no weight bearing on joints.
  • Movements in the water are easier, safer, and less painful.
  • Can accommodate individuals at any fitness level or any age.
  • Buoyancy of the water can assist in stability, coordination, & balance training.
  • Resistance and intensity easily modified through changes in the speed of movement.
  • Beneficial to the cardiovascular & circulatory systems.
  • Maintains/Improves muscular tone & bone density.
  • Prepares patient for land based exercise.
  • Helps to increase synovial joint fluid in all joints as a result of movements performed in the water.
